This program focuses on all of the basics necessary to enjoy a successful overnight backpacking trip. Among these basics are safety in the wilderness, map navigation, hiking tips and practice, plant identification, proper gear choices and how to use the gear/supplies correctly, etc. We will also be doing fun outdoor games, team building, some nature based crafts, and practicing all of the skills we go over in an exciting way.

Other Information

    • Please bring a full water bottle and small backpack to each session
    • Please dress appropriately for the weather
      • Hat/sunscreen in heat
      • Warm layers, waterproof layer, warm hat in cold/rain
      • Hiking boots required
      • Unless the weather is very extreme, the meetings will still continue for those dressed appropriately
    • Certain gear will be required to participate in the final overnight hike. I have a limited amount to rent, so purchasing some gear may be necessary to be prepared.
  • Parents: You are not required to stay for these hikes, but you are welcome to if your child needs your assistance in particular or if you would like to come along for the experience
  • Please let us know ahead of time if there are any medical issues, disabilities, or other details that you would like us to be informed about

  • $265 for 3 day hikes + 1 overnight trip (total of only $8/hour of class time)
  • Supply/meal fee: $95

***Payment can be made by check or cash at the first session of program 

***If you are using Student Funds through a homeschool, make sure to request to use your funds for our program so that the  payment process can be completed by the school
